On October 26, 2015, IDI celebrated 40 years with a Kennedy Center reception for some 300 local officials and business leaders. The venue’s spectacular vistas and riverfront location offered the ideal setting from which to honor the accomplishments of company president Giuseppe Cecchi and the team he assembled, who were responsible for many development “firsts” in the National Capital area.

The neighboring Watergate complex was not only Cecchi’s first US project but was also the first mixed-use development ever in Washington, leading to many more firsts for IDI. IDI was responsible for the region’s first lifestyle condominium community – the first active-adult high rise community – the first condominium conversion affordable to existing residents – the first commercial building over a Metro.

Now poised to build on the lessons from the past with a new generation’s vision for the future, what remains unchanged is IDI’s commitment to developing better environments for people to live, work, and play. Here’s to the next 40…
